Reddit and YouTube monitoring: what is available?

Different sources need different workflows.

A source logo does not tell you whether a tool can collect comments, how frequently it checks or what you may do with the result. UmmahSignal separates provider availability from workspace access and keeps restrictions visible. Buying a plan cannot activate an unapproved source.

How YouTube monitoring works in the beta.

1. Start with a useful phrase

   Choose a distinctive brand, app or product term. A broad category can bring back unrelated videos and comments. Review your results before adding more keywords, and use exclusions where a term has several meanings.

2. Check the scan, not just the inbox

   Read your workspace’s source status and last run. A quiet inbox can mean no matching public items, a quota pause or a failed request. Daily collection does not mean every matching item on YouTube has been captured.

3. Review the source yourself

   Open the original video or comment context before assigning a teammate or adding a note. YouTube results are not automatically scored for sentiment or assigned AI categories. UmmahSignal does not post replies for you.

The underlying YouTube search API and comment-thread API have different request scopes. A thread result is not a guarantee of every reply: Google explains that a comment-thread resource may contain only some replies. UmmahSignal’s current beta scope is supported top-level comments, not a complete conversation archive.

Looking for a Reddit monitoring tool?

If Reddit is essential to your research, UmmahSignal is not an active Reddit collection option today. Reddit’s Data API Terms require express written approval for commercial revenue from API use. Our application is pending, so Reddit collection stays disabled. A public post, available actor or visible API does not establish that commercial permission.

When evaluating any Reddit social listening tool, ask which access route is approved for the intended commercial use, what communities and content it covers, how it honours deletion and whether content can be exported or processed by AI. Confirm these separately from the subscription price.

We will update this page when access and an operational rollout are verified. A roadmap entry or completed adapter is not evidence that a connector is live, and we do not promise an approval date.

For YouTube, a useful first workflow is to review public questions about a product or a point of confusion around a video. For eligible X content, teams can also examine permitted patterns and configure alerts. Keep the two evidence sets separate when their processing permissions differ.
